Right Upper Abdominal Pain saga

Hello all,

Ive had Right upper abdominal pain for 1 year and 8 months now and after countless visits to GP and Hospitals im still non the wiser!

In that Year and 8 months ive had - 1x CT Scan, 2 Ultrasounds 4 visits to the hospital, 2 Urine samples, 1 stool sample and 4 lots of blood work done.

And ive been told so many different versions of what my pain could be but they are just "Guesses" and ultimately there isnt a thing wrong with me....

Im slowly but surely giving up here and i dont know what else to do or say...is anyone here ever had a similar experience.

  • Hi, I too have had upper right abdominal discomfort for about a year now. Had bloods, ultrasound and recently aCT scan, which showed a thickening on my colon in exactly the same place where I have the pain. Sent for a colonoscopy which came back normal, however still waiting for the consultant to discuss my CT scan but only after I pushed for this. Out of interest what did they guess you have? I understand your frustration, because the pain is real, but they don't seem to diagnose.
    take care

  • Hi Zaz

Thank you for replying and hopefully things are getting better for yourself.

So far ive had a few diagnoses or guesses from multiple doctors such as its just my Anxiety, Trapped Gas, Acid Reflux and just last week they said it might be Muscular..

Like yourself, all of my results keep coming back normal which leaves me scratching my head because your right, the pain is real..they have now said they will try another ultrasound just for reassurance so im hoping this can get sorted soon..its mentally dragging me down now.

  • Hi Bryn

Another ultrasound is a good idea and you're absolutely right that it's mentally draining having to live with it and trying to get answers. I really hope you get some good news and can move on. I too will keep pushing for answers, but it's a slog! Keep us updated.

    Best wishes
