Breast clinic today - feeling anxious

I know it's ok for me to feel anxious but equally I feel guilty as everything may turn out to be fine!
But I've got my breast clinic appointment later on this afternoon and I feel really anxious. Not sure how much concentrating I'll do at work today.
Can anyone let me know what to expect?
***update - all clear. Lots of cysts. Will be having regular mammograms from 40 and have been signed up to a family genetics programme. Really hope everyone else is doing ok xx

  • Hi I have my clinic appointment Friday and so anxious, I'm sending you virtual hugs.  Hope all goes well for you xx

  • Hoping all goes well for you on Friday. I'm just at the start of this diagnosis journey and also feeling very anxious so I completely empathise. Sending love and best wishes xx

  • [@Daisy_B]‍  Sorry to hear you are undergoing more wait after further biopsies. At least they are being very thorough, sounds like you are in great hands albeit no doubt fed up and anxious. 25th will soon be here, in the meantime you have us all for company and lots of ears to listen when the anxiety gremlins creep in. Biggest hugs!! Xx

  • @lauriex and @linda2022. Thank you. It'll be what it'll be, I'm just hoping my 'managing to keep busy' lasts these two weeks.

Lauriex I'm so happy to see your update. Hopefully the regular mammograms will help to keep an eye on things for you.

Linda i know your results are probably as I write this, so I hope you are doing OK, thinking of you xx

  • Thank you. I'll be thinking of you all and hoping you get good news. And if you don't, I know you can face whatever comes your way xxx

  • Sadly not good news. I have a stage 3 invasive carcinoma that's spread into my lymph nodes. Operation booked to remove it and all of the lymph nodes on the 9th September. Currently feel numb and sick. Xx

  • Linda I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope you have lots of support to get you through. Try and keep in mind treatments have improved tremendously with breast cancer and the pathway will hopefully be clearly set for you. They know what they are doing and I hope it's all been explained to you, but it's probably been lots of information for you today so make sure you speak to the breast care nurses if you have any questions, they will be a great source of support and information.

I'm thinking of you, if it helps you then do stay on the forum and speak to others who have been/are going through the same. Sorry its been a tough day, much love xx

  • Hi Linda, so so sorry to hear this ️
I don't know if other peoples experiences are helpful so just ignore if not... in 2019 my mum was diagnosed with small lymphocytic leukaemia and then 6 months later, an entirely separate breast cancer. The MDT had to battle out which to treat first! She is still here, living and loving.

Right now I'd imagine you need time to come to terms with things and get your mind straight... I don't feel I've a right to stay on the forum now after my news today but I'll be thinking of you loads and really hope your treatment goes well. Lots and lots of love. xx

  • I'm so very pleased for you, Laurie. I hope you stay healthy and happy x

  • I'm so sorry, Linda. I totally understand how you feel. Do you have family and friends to support you? I got my diagnosis of Grade 3 invasive Her2+ BC yesterday and felt relieved and probably a bit euphoric that it wasn't as bad as I'd been fearing (spread all over and I didn't have long). But today the reality is starting to sink in and I have that sick feeling too. My lymph node biopsy was inconclusive so I need to have it done again, and will have MRI for a full picture of the breast area. But treatment will be chemo first to try to shrink 3.5cm tumour then lumpectomy. Just feeling floored by it all today. Saying a prayer for you that your surgery will be successful and you can find ways to remain calm and at peace while you wait. Take care and I'd be happy to keep in touch if you wish to. Amy xx

  • Thinking of you while you wait, Daisy. I'm having to have another axilla biopsy as the last one was inconclusive. Waiting for appointment. Take care Amy xx

  • Hi Amy

Good luck with your treatment, I hope you have loads of support and people to talk to as you go through this.

I hope the lumph node biopsy is clearer the next time round aswell, as getting inconclusive results is frustrating I'm sure.

I'm sure you'll go through loads of emotions as the process goes on, there's loads of support out there so make sure you get advice and support whenever you need it.

    Thinking of you xx
