lump below collarbone

Hey, so on the 18th July I found a lump just below my collarbone on my right side which at the time felt quite soft. It also had a red mark over it which I took a picture of to keep track. I went to my GP a week later as it was still there and he told me it was just a swollen lymph node and I had nothing to worry about. Google says most swollen lymph nodes should be gone within 2 weeks, but mine is still here today. It's been over 3 weeks since I discovered it and I'm quite worried, and it seems like it's been shrinking and growing over the 3 weeks which tricks me into thinking it's going but it doesn't (when I went to the GP it was quite small, but a few days later it felt like it grew a little again). Over the last few days my right shoulder has been quite sore when I move it around and I've also had to clear my throat alot and my chest hurts when I breathe in hard (if this is even relevant) I have another appointment on the 16th but I'm here to ask if anyone has an idea on if I should be worried, or maybe if they've experienced it themselves? Thanks. :)

  • Hello CharlieH1612

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently had some concerns about a swollen lymph node. You did the right thing in seeing your GP and it's good to hear that they didn't have any immediate cause for concern.

We know that many people look to the internet when they have a health worry and unfortunately what happens most often is that people find information that leaves them even more worried but doesn't necessarily give them an answer to their situation.

However, you're clearly still feeling worried and now have some additional health concerns so it's good to know that you've already made an appointment with the GP to discuss this further. Hopefully, the GP will be able to give you some reassurance when you see them next week and arrange any tests that they feel may be appropriate.

Do let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi. Thank you for the reply and concern. I've just returned from the gp and apparently it's just a skin lesion so it is permanent unless surgically removed. However I do feel relieved now
