Signs all leading to cancer

I’ve been having number of issues from extremely heavy periods and pain, lower back pain, feeling tired, feeling full straight away and more. On top of recently losing weight without trying.

Last week, I had a US Pelvis and Transabdominal/vaginal ultrasound scans. I was told to expect results within a week or so.

However, I got a call next day saying GP wanted to see me urgently face to face.

The day after I saw my GP and they explained that my right ovary is enlarged. It contains a heterogeneous lesion and appears to contain droppler flow within. I have free pelvic fluid and my endometrium is thickened way above what should be. I can’t really remember everything as I was in shock. She basically said there’s a number of things concerning, and could be ovarian cancer.

My GP has put in a urgent request for Fast Track Cancer referral. She was lovely and explained I should get apt and been seen within 2 weeks given urgency.  She told me to prepare for many tests ahead.

I’m not sure how I feel. Obviously google doesn’t help as always gives the worst but honestly has anyone had anything similar? Should I prepare myself for worst case? If it’s not cancer what else could it be?

Can anyone confirm process and potentially tests il be having? My gp mentioned CT scans etc but honestly the conversation is a blur right now

  • Hi

i am awaiting results of a biopsy for colon growths so am in a similar position to you re awaiting next steps. I know how anxious it can make you feel. I would say just know you are on the right path for proper treatment and it will not be too long for the next steps. Wishing you the best.

  • Hi, I had a similar conversation with my doctor about high markers/Bowel cancer, 2 weeks ago. I am going for tests now next week as I was on the 2 week pathway. I know it is so scary when you hear the cancer word, I am absolutely terrified, but this group chat has put my mind to rest, when you know your not alone in your journey it helps immensely. Goodluck with all your tests and keep dipping into the chat. It really makes me less anxious xxx

  • I Hope you go on OK, I was fast tracked for cancer 4weeks ago, got colonoscopy scan within a week and ct scan of thorax, abdomen and cervical within a week too, but still waiting results, 4 weeks tomorrow, it's the waiting x

  • I went for vaninal ultra sound/ trans etc, four years apart  they found my left ovary but couldn't find my right? I said there in there somewhere , I also had thickening of womb, had biopsys, and came back OK. But still worry incase my problem now could be due to not finding my right ovary? Still awaiting ct results.hope you get sorted quickly x

  • I had complex ovarian cysts last year found unexpectedly during colonoscopy, l was referred to oncology gynaecology on the two week wait, after MRI, Ect they were removed the operation was a bit difficult due to extensive adhesions due to,previous surgery on the left side which was where l had pain. Fortunately l had the oncology surgeon who spent 4 1/2 hours removing the adhesions as other surgeons would have left them , The multiple biopsies were benign, it was all a bit worrying as I am over 65 and cancer was a strong possibility l had surgery 8 weeks after being listed for surgery.
l hope you have a similar outcome and all is well

    take care

    susie

  • Tests ahead of you - I had a suspicous mass found during the ultrasounds and am at the stage where I have had further tests but still waiting to find out results and what happens next. Tests I had may be the same for you , I don't know if its the same tests each time. I had blood tests. Then an MRI scan - took about 30 mins, the scanner is a bit noisy and I needed a cannular to put the die in but it was painless. CT scans - I had one for chest/abdomen/pelvis and one for pancreas. Again a cannular for the contrast die, took about 10 mins altogether for the scans.  For both types of scan I was able to keep my own clothes on as they had no metal in them. Wishing you luck - I think at this stage the most difficult bit is the uncertainty/not knowing and the waiting. I hope all goes smoothly for you
