Breast lump or lymph node

Hi all,

I am in my 20s and recently found a smooth, small lump in the upper portion of my breast which felt like a marble. I can't say if its moveable, but it does appear to move from side to side slightly.

I had it checked by my GP, who thought it was a lymph node. They suggested I return in a few weeks to check whether it had shrunk, and then refer me to the breast clinic to double check. They appeared to think it wasn't particularly concerning, but I am worried sick.

Does anyone have a similar story? I don't think it feels like a lymph node (I have had obvious lymph nodes in the past) but think it could be a fibroadenoma from what I've read online.

Thanks x

  • Hi HH1203,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I can understand that this kind of uncertainty is concerning. If your doctor had any serious concerns then they would have referred you, but I appreciate this still doesn't leave you with any answers.

You have the option of waiting the time they suggested, and if doing this then I would suggest to try to keep your mind off it as much as possible. Alternatively you could always ask for a second opinion if you feel this would help to ease your worries.

    Wishing you all the best,
