9 week wait after a 2 week referral

Is it normal that I have been told by the hospital that I have to wait 9 weeks for an initial appointment with a specialist despite the GP issuing a 2 week fast track referral? Everything I can find online seems to suggest the NHS WILL give me an appointment in 2 weeks but I can't find any help on what to do if they aren't!?

    I think I read somewhere that you can choose where you are seen. If you go to your local NHS Trust website and do some searching, you may find a list of waiting times for hospitals in each area. If I find a link I'll send it to you. Hope you hear soon and will be thinking of you x
