Breast lump and dull pain shoulder blade and arm

Hi,

I have a large lump in my left breast (feels like a marble and about 1-2cm). I have also recently been feeling some dull aches in the breast and my arm and shoulder blade. I'm so worried as I googled (I know I shouldn't have) and I'm scared I have secondary breast cancer! I'm only 24 with no family history so this is absolutely terrifying for me. I went to the GP and am awaiting my referral to the breast clinic but I'm so scared so would love to hear anything similar that anyone has felt.

thanks x

  • Hey there!

It is completely normal to feel worried. I have been the breast clinic 6 or 7 times in recent years. They keep finding new cysts and fibrodenomas when i go. I am actually waiting on some biopsy results which i am due to get tomorrow.

Statistically the odds are in your favour. Majority of breast lumps are benign but it is ALWAYS ALWAYS best to get it checked. I have had a lump before and the same pain you describe. The lump was a cyst and the aches were put down to. anxiety worrying about the lump! Sometime the ache is the cyst itself. I was recommended by the breast consultant to take Evening Primrose Oil and it's helped loads Just try and keep busy and focus on the positive. You are doing the right thing getting it checked x

  • Hey,

thank you so much for your reply. I am still absolutely petrified but appreciate everything you had to say! I have had the lump a long time and it is round and moveable but the dull aches have only begun since booking my dr's appointment so I'm hoping they're just from the anxiety as I suffer so badly with it. ive been reading a lot of other peoples story's that sound similar to mine and while almost all of them are success stories, I can't help but think I'm going to be the one who gets it. Will try evening primrose oil!

    thanks x

  • Hey, just wanted to reply to this again, incase anyone comes across it while scrolling. It was a fibroadenoma! I had an ultrasound and a biopsy done. Most terrifying 2 weeks of my life but came out all clear. The aches and symptoms were all down to worry which have since almost completely vanished! Just wanted to post this incase anyone had any similar symptoms and is feeling worried x x

  • Thank you so much for this update I know it's been a while for you but I'm in a similar situation similar symptoms and have 1 wk to wait for my appointment, have been randomly bursting into tears and rushing to out make up on before my children see me upset as no one knows and it's my son and daughters bday week.

I'm so glad to see this good news in update, thanks again x

  • Hiya, so happy to hear you limo was benign. I'm currently having the same symptoms as you are and I'm so worried so your symptoms and diagnosis have given me some reassurance. I don't want to tell my daily just yet as I don't want to worry them so very happy to have found this forum to speak to others going through the same worry.

so glad again that you have been given a benign diagnosis xx

  • Hi Story78,

Sorry to jump into the thread but was just wondering if you had experienced any of the below.

I went to the GP 2 weeks ago with a firm but mobile lump on left breast. I was referred to breast clinic and waiting on appt which should take apprx 3 weeks. The trust I was with can't see me and so being transferred to another trust - anyways. I was curious to know with your  cysts and fibrodenomas did they start off like a mobile lump?
It's been 2 weeks since the initial GP appt and now I have multiple mobile lumps they range from pea size and to walnut size. I also have armpit pain, lymph nodes feel raised, pain behind nipple and part of  my chest feels hard.
Did you have any of these symptoms at all?

  • Hi [@Purple_010]‍

Yes i have had multiple lumps over the years. Majority mobile and they were found to be cysts/fibrodenomas.

As it happens , I am almost close to completion for treatment for stage 2 breast cancer! i was diagnosed the day after i posted. I have completed 15 rounds of chemo, surgery and the cancer has gone. I just need to complete radiotherapy next month. The docs said from the beginning that it was treatable and they have been true to their word! Anyway, the most important point to make is that the lump that was cancer was "fixed". It didn't move at all. All my other - benign - lumps moved.

I will be keeping everything crossed for you but I'm sure you will be fine xxx

  • I am so sorry to hear of your diagnosis- hope your turning a corner with it.
Did you also have armpit pain, lymph nodes feel raised, pain behind nipple and part of  my chest feels hard with the cysts/fibroemedina?
