Colonoscopy review

Hi all, I just wanted to add my experience to help anyone who's worried about having the procedure. I read everything in advance too and didn't know what to expect still.

So, the prep went fine in that it did its job though it was only marked fair on the report even though I took every last drop of it. Its not as awful as you might think though definitely not fun but you get through it. Worst part for me was the soreness after and still have a very loud grumbling tummy

Onto the hospital experience. So there was a wait after checking in but I had my book. Was anxious waiting etc but saw others coming back and they all seemed OK.

I told doc I expected the procedure to be worse than the prep and he said no way the prep is the hardest part. I had some tough procedures as a child so was really dreading and anxious for this part. They recommended the sedation though I thought I would be ok without but I took their advice and went with it. I forget most of what happened and only had minimal awareness here and there. Before I knew it I was back in recovery. Toast was divine afterwards. Luckily I jusy have IBS but docs wanted to be sure after having a severe recent flare up .

Home and ok, just tired and a little tender but not in pain and hoping it will stay that way.

For everyone waiting for this, I hope you get good results and please be reassured it will go okay on the day. They don't want people to suffer so take their advice and make it as easy on yourselves as possible .

Wishing you all the best of luck and don't be scared by the horror stories. I was but they are not the usual so take comfort in that xxx

  • Hello Moongoddess

I just wanted to post to say thank you for sharing your story. We know that a lot of people post with negative experiences so hopefully, in the future, your post will offer some support and reassurance to others who are waiting for the same procedure.

    Best wishes,
