I've had thyroid cancer and really, most of what I have to say is reassuring. Firstly, thyroid nodules are incredibly common. The vast majority - over 90% - are completely harmless. My ENT phrased it like this: " nodules are common, most are benign, but obviously we have to check it's not cancer."

And even if it is, and the odds are very much against it, thyroid cancer isn't exactly what you imagine when you hear the word "cancer". The most common forms have survival rates close to 100% and don't require chemotherapy or radiotherapy or Amy ongoing treatment. They just remove your thyroid. I was back at work a month after surgery.

Of course, any threat of cancer is worrying, but the odds are you don't have it and even if you are unlucky, the whole thing will like be sorted in a couple of months.
