Hello,
Thank you in advance for any responses!
Yesterday I saw an ENT specialist and have been referred for MRI and biopsy.
Around 2 months ago I noticed a lymph node in my neck (around 1.5cm), after a week or so I noticed a smaller lymph node in my neck and a small occipitial node on back of my head. I went to the doctor who said it was probably reactive nodes from an infection and to come back in 6 weeks if they have not resolved. I was then travelling around Ireland and wanted a second opinion (the doctor said he saw white spots on my tonsils and I was prescribed antibiotics) I went back a week later and was prescribed more antibiotics, i asked if he would advise me returning home to get things checked with my gp but he said he would refer me to hospital for checks if i was a resident but to just wait until I returned home as it didn't appear urgent.
Upon returning home the biggest lymph node has reduced in size and occipitial node has nearly gone but my GP wanted to refer me to ENT specialist and took a blood test. The blood test came back all clear with nothing serious highlighted. The ENT specialist noticed one of my tonsils is enlarged with a big ulcer on it which needed checking. I asked if he had any indication as to what he thought it was and he said they want to rule out anything sinister and said at this point it is 50/50, he said i do not have the usual risk factors (young, non-smoker).
I am 27, a non-smoker and drink alcohol occasionally.
Really stressed as I fear I may have tonsil cancer that has spread to nearby lymph nodes!
I appreciate no-one on here can help with a diagnosis but can anyone offer any advice as to what it could be? Or if anyone has had similar experiences?
Thanks again!
