small, round lump under chin

i'm 19 years old now and noticed a small lump under my chin about a year ago. i booked into my local gp about it and was referred to hospital under the note of "suspected head or neck cancer". That was about ten months ago now and i have not heard any news back from my gp or the hospital which i would assume means it's nothing to worry about, however, it's still there and i've just started worrying about it again. i was wondering whether anyone else had any similar lumps and whether anyone had any thoughts on what it could actually be. i don't think that it has grown in the past year, however i do believe when i first noticed it it wasn't firm (or at least as firm as it is now.

  • Hi Logan and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry about the lump you found under your chin and that you haven't heard anything since being referred 10 months ago.

The delay may be due to the backlogs the NHS are working through, but as it's been a while it may be worth getting in touch with your GP to let them know as they may be able to chase this up for you.

Although no-one here will be able to tell you what this is, they will understand how worrying it can be to have such symptoms, so you are not alone and hopefully you will receive some support and advice from them soon.

Fingers crossed you get an appointment through soon and the lump is no cause for concern.

    All the best,
