Lump on clavicle bone

Hi all

My lymph nodes on right side of my face swelled like a ballon for 3 hours then disappeared. A month on and a lump has appeared on my collar bone but hasn't gone. GP looked at it for a minute then dismissed it as a fatty tissue.

A week later I had a dental check up and dentist told me it was a lymph node and they were up in my neck, recommended seeing GP again. I have been referred for an ultrasound but I am beside myself with worry. Can they tell if it's lymphoma just by an ultrasound? GP said it could be that.

it's a waiting game :(

  • Hello CharlieP,

A warm welcome to Cancer Chat. What you are going through at the moment is indeed a waiting game and that is by no means a fun game! Many on our forum will have experienced this endless period of waiting.

It's good that they are taking things seriously now and that you have now been referred for an ultrasound. Hopefully the ultrasound will shed some light on what is going on but it is not usually the only diagnostic test to diagnose NHL as you will see on this page

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be as there are so many other things that could explain this lump on your clavicle other than lymphoma. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,

    Lucie, Cancer Chat Moderator
