Hello, I wonder if anyone can offer their experience or advice.
A bit of background - I'm 27, with a history of a neuroendocrine tumour removed along with my appendix in 2015. Can't remember exactly but I'm sure it was a T1 tumour. Basically removed fully and all borders clear of cancer they were happy it was gone with the appendix removed.
Sinxe around December 2021 I have been having stomach pains on and off every single day without fail. It makes me feel nauseous and is really impacting my life now. I have no diarrhoea, no constipation, no reflux, ONLY stomach pain which is mostly upper abdo and the occasional heartburn type pain in my sternum.
I have lost nearly 4 stone in 6 months due to not being able to eat much, as this pain makes me feel absolutely horrid. I try to eat little and often, but even that doesn't help.
My GP has already tried me on omeprezole, lansoprazole, esomeprasole, buscopan and mebeverin. Nothing stops the pain. She was thinking it may be IBS and referred me to Gastro. I saw the consultant and he felt immediately that my colon was inflamed so he said yep definitely IBS but referred me for a gastroscopy to rule out anything else, especially with my tumour history. However, my dad suffers IBS and has flare ups. Where mine is every single day, constant. So I'm not convinced
I went today for my gastroscopy and.. oh my lord, traumatic. Not painful at all but I just couldn't stop wretching and gagging so the endoscopist called it a day and said she would rebook me with a senior who could offer more sedation.
So just wondering, has anyone else had to abort mission with gastroscopy/endoscopy because it was too uncomfortable or am I dramatic?
and also.. Should I just put this down to IBS or is this something that gets thrown around when they don't know what else to diagnose?
thank you if anyone reads this
