  • Hello Offside

I'm sorry to hear that your recent CT scan showed an area on your liver that needs further investigation. It's perfectly natural that you're feeling scared about what this may be.

For many people, this period of waiting and uncertainty can be difficult. The unknown can be a scary prospect to face but try to remember that there could be any number of other things that have caused this something that they've found. Hopefully, you won't have to wait too long for your appointment and the team will be able to give you some answers and reassurance.

In the meantime, I'd suggest giving our team of nruses a call to chat things through with them. I'm sure they will be happy to offer any information, advice, and support that they can. They're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

Keep in touch Offside and let us know how you get on at your appointment.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi,

I am going through something similar, this has en experience so far:

     - in late march I had bloods, ultrasound and CT for suspected gallbladder stones - they did find some small stones but also what they thought was a cyst in my liver.

I then had an MRI (start of May)  which suggested the mass was not a cyst but they needed more info (until then I had been using private health insurance) the consultant then did a 2ww referral into the NHS.

I then had more bloods (for tumour markers - all normal), a CT with a different contrast and an MRI with primovist

My case was referred to the multi disciplinary team - who discussd it after the CT and bloods and said they couldn't diagnose until they got the MRI results.

Unfortumately the backlog with MRI meant it took 5 weeks rather than 2 - I had it June 15th

Unfortunaterly the MRI results didn't give them the information they needed t omake a diagnosis so they recommended liver biopsy which i had on Friday ( I was on holiday for 2 weeks before the biopsy).

I am now waiting on my results from it to determine if this lesion is benign or not.

I hope you get an answer from CT/MRI.
