I noticed a mole type thing by ear a few months ago and contacted the doctors. It was just a telephone consultation with a photo sent across to the Dr and he was happy to leave it a nothing 6 weeks. 6 weeks went by i got asked to send another photo which I did and then got asked to come in for a face to face appointment. Went to the appointment and the Dr said the pigmentation looks abnormal and its very asymmetrical so she sent a photo of to the dermatologist. They got back to her and have said this...
They are very happy this is a benign type of lesion ("fried egg naevus"). Their advice is self monitoring. Please keep your photo and keep monitoring the mole. If it becomes irregular in shape, increases in size and there is colour variation within the naevus which is different from what is seen now, becomes more lumpy, sore or bleeding please do to come back.
Can i asked for it to still be removed for peace of mind or shall I go for a second opinion possibly private? I can't understand why somthing would just appear on my face and its not a normal looking mole. Thanks
