Endometrial thickness24mm

Hello

Looking for some advice please.

Had very heavy periods for about 16 months now , no pain at anytime just very heavy periods with large clots lasting around 10 days .

I also get in between bleeding so tend to wear a pad every day just in case as in between bleeding getting almost every few days now and heavier.

Saw GP in April who recommended a CA125 blood test that came back high at 54 , also blood loss caused anemia which came back on the blood test at 7 so given iron tablets for 7 months to help .

A TVS done in May showed a thickness of 24 mm so referred to gynae as urgent case.

Trying not to worry too much but Gynae app not till August and seems a long wait from May to Aug as an urgent referral as this will be around 12 weeks

I do understand Covid backlog is high but has anyone else had any wait like this or any reassurance they could offer , would be much appreciated.

Im 47 years old so not gone through menopause yet though I originally waited to see the Gp as I thought the abnormal bleeding could be the start of the menopause .

Thanks so much for listening

xx

  • Hello claire03 and a warm welcome to Cancer Chat,

You've done the right thing to go and see the GP in April and it's good that they are being thorough and carried out a CA125 and a TVS. You've had to wait a long time for your gynaecology appointment and hopefully it won't be long now for you to be seen. It might be worth ringing them to double check that this 12 week wait is indeed for an urgent referral and you could perhaps get in touch with them to see whether you could be seen earlier if they had any cancellations for example.

I thought I would also share with you these helpful tips to help you cope while waiting for important news.

I hope that you will be seen very soon and that you find out what has been causing these symptoms.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,
