Urgent Biopsy

I have a history of ovarian cysts in which 11 years ago I had one of my overaries removed as I had a cyst the size of a melon, biopsy was done and the cyst was benign. I have recently been having the same pain, so I went to my GP who referred me to the gynaecologist. I have had an ultrasound done to which I was told there were complex issues with cysts and fibroids in my uterus. I then got given a hysteroscopy appointment, which I went to.

After the hysteroscopy appointment the consultant told me that he is extremely worried about his findings as in my uterus there wasn't fibroids but cells that looked rather unusual. He said he was sending it off as urgent and that I should prepare myself for not good news! Has anyone else been told this and everything ended up being ok?

I'm 44 and worried sick

  • Hi Hope and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry the consultant's feedback was a bit alarming but if you can, try not to panic or think the worst until your results have been reviewed. I know that will be much easier said than done given what you've been told but if you can, try to stay positive until you know more.
