Results via letter?

I had a large breast lump biopsy a month or so ago and it came back as showing spindle cell lesions. The consultant was really vague and told me not to do any research and that they didnt know what it was but that they wanted to do surgery to get it out, and I got given an outpatient surgery appointment within the month. After the surgery he told me that he had taken out other lumps and that it would all be sent for analysis but that I would be seen in a month to discuss the results.

When I spoke to macmillain for more information they said that spindle cells are a form cancer and I should have been told that.

I received a notification to say that my appointment has been cancelled, when I called the clinic they said that they had an MDT that day and that I would be receiving a letter instead? She said something like not wasting time me coming in.

I am guessing this is good news and means that there is nothing more to worry about, that the letter will just have negative results? But has anyone had cancer results in a letter? If they have cancelled my appointment presumably there is nothing left to do but I have more questions about spindle cell and how to keep an eye or what to look for? It's only been a week since my surgery so it all seems quite quick..

Does anyone have a similar experience? Surely they would call or say face to face if there are any issues? A small worry is that I will be getting referred which is why it's been so quick? Or am I overthinking it?

  • Hello

I'm not sure what it means but find it shocking that they gave no explanation. I have a large lump too like 5cm waiting for my biopsy result.. I've only noticed it when it was already this size. Was told it looks like fibroadenoma . Did they tell you the same ? Im sure it will be removed even if benign . Hope that's the end of the nightmare for you and it means you're alL clear
