Can anyone help. I'm driving myself mad!

I have had two lots of TNBC, 1 in 2007 and 1 in 2016. Recently I have found a tender spot on my ribs. Doesn't hurt at all unless pressure is applied. A substantial amount of pressure and there is no swelling. This morning I woke with pain in my right hip. There was no warning it was just there when I woke. It has eased with pain meds but is still there. I have contacted my doc and she is sending me straight for a bone scan to check things out. The waiting list is 3 months. I was just wondering if anyone with experience of bone mets could help me. Can the pain just appear overnight? Would my ribs hurt even when stood? Can pain meds ease the pain of bone mets? 
I just know I'm going to drive myself mad for 3 months plus. I have been diagnosed with arthritis in 2012 so my hip could just be this.
