Pain in breast two week rule

Hi, sorry for the long message incoming.

I had my 2nd son 7 months ago. Back in January I had a lump in my left armpit. Was referred to breast clinic who did an ultrasound and said it was a cyst. Had to go back 2 months after as noticed stains in my bra, left cup. Nipple very crusty, flatter than the right but doesn't invert. Had an ultrasound again and nothing sinister found. However all the while getting shoulder pain and pain in and around breast. Still getting pain, intense itchiness like sunburn but there is no sunburn there. Used emollients but nothing seems to work. Nipple still  crusty but hasn't got any worse. No lumps found at all, but so worried about the pain. I am a nurse myself and I I jump to the worst case scenario. Had an appointment tonight at my local extended services and he has referred me again as he says he's not concerned but I obviously am. Anything that slightly touches it it's so painful. I have two boys, and I can't bare the thought of leaving them. I'm so scared. Has anyone else experienced this type of pain in just one breast and everything ok? I'm hoping this time they ultrasound the full breast or at least where the pain is.

Thanks for reading

  • I've had lots of visits to the breast clinic and surgeries, due duct ectasia , including a reduction to remove as many of the milk ducts as possible lower half. They usually do a mammogram and ultrasound scans during my appointment, a junior doctor nearly had a fit one time as l have extensive scar tissue he thought was a tumour,

l have an open appointment and can ring to be given next available appointment if lm worried they say that the scans just a snapshot of the day it's taken. My gp has sent me back on the two week wait lots of times, she takes one look and off l go, lve had loads of antibiotics due to infections and pain. my problems started many years ago when my daughter was 1 yrs old. With a cyst under my arm,

l hope you have a reassuring appointment.
    take care

  • Hi Susie, thank you for the response. Oh wow that's really good that they give you open access to the service. I am so glad the doctor I saw the other day listened to my concerns and referred me, I was so scared they'd just tell me I was being silly.

I am hoping it's good news, I go next tuesday will keep you updated. How did you know you had duct ectasia? Were you getting lumps or was there pain etc?

    Best wishes katie x

  • I had discharge from my nipples and pain to begin with, lots of infections and l could feel what felt like a piece of wire in the lower part of my breasts. They did a frozen section during the first operation It became red and really uncomfortable.  l was working in the same theatre as my surgeon he was great and would see me when I asked him  He's now the professor at my local hospital l have also had steroid injections to settle the pain. I had a lymph node removed recently it sat there being watched for  ages then became sore so was removed.
