CT Brain Scan - confused and worried

I had a CT scan of my brain yesterday! The technician seemed concerned about the scans and asked me to wait outside. Shortly after I was called back in and told they had spoken to the doctor and needed to do another scan as the doctor needed more information. I have no further information at this stage but confused as to why they took two scans. Is it possible the first scans failed?

  • Hello Aliem

I'm sorry to hear that you're currently undergoing some health investigations. It's often a difficult time waiting for tests and results and it's natural to feel concerned.

There could be any number of reasons that the technician spoke to the Dr and why they in turn requested another scan. Try not to read too much into this. Hopefully, the team were able to get the clear pictures needed, and when you have your follow-up appointment they will be able to answer your questions.

In the meantime, if you'd like to chat with our team of nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday. I'm sure they will be happy to offer any information and support they can ahead of your next appointment.

Do keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,

  • Thank you Jenn! I really appreciate you taking the time to reply to me! I got myself into a bit of a state yesterday! Trying to be more pragmatic now! Like you say, it could have been for any number of reasons!

  • I got an MRI on my back and got recalled for a second one, and the reason given was exactly what you were given. Needed further information.  Turned out i had moved (i hadn't realised i had) and 3 discs were blurry.

  • This is very reassuring! Thank you so much! Hopefully this is what happened!
