Breast Ultra sound and biopsy

I had a mammogram 3-4 months ago which came back fine so the lump I felt before the mammogram I put down to hormones as 51...roll the clock forward and the lump is still there and seems larger...I made a doctors appt who referred  me and luckily I was seen in 4 days.

I was examined and sent for another mammogram and then an ultrasound. The consultant radiaologist before performing the ultrasound said it was probably a cyst but then on examination said he was a little worried as lump wasn't a cyst as had jagged uneven edges and so took some biopsies...I then went back to see the breast consultant who said ona scale of 1-5 the mammogram was a 3 undetermined and the ultrasound was a 4!!(4-5 having cancerous signs). I'm back in for my results this Thursday but am extremely worried esp when on leaving they told me not to come alone to this next appt!

has anyone had a similar experience or any advice to offer?

xx

  • Hi,

I'm in a similar situation to you. I found a lump a couple of months ago and had the urgent referral to the Breast Clinic. They found something in my other breast, which they've said is a 3/4 and the breast I went in concerned about is a 4. I've had a bilateral biopsy and will get the results Thursday.

Try not to worry too much, you only have a couple of days to wait for your results now and you're seeing the right people if something is found.

All the paperwork says to bring a friend, so try not to read into that too much. I went alone to my referral appontment, convinced it was a cyst. My husband will be coming with me Thursday, if only to make sure I take any information I'm given in  and so what I'm told he's told, so it doesn't get lost in interpretation.
