High QFit result has led to urgent referral.

Hi members

I recently had bloods and stool samples taken after experiencing blood in my stools. Everything came back normal apart from my qfit test, with the results coming back abnormal and very high. I've been put on the list for an urgent referral which is normally 2 weeks but because of the current nhs waiting times it could be months before I'm seen. My doctor asked if myself or any family had private health insurance because I may be seen quicker which we don't have and can't afford to go private.
I'm currently off on maternity leave after having my son last August but am due back in a couple of weeks.
Any advice is welcome

  • Hello shesunderthebed

I'm sorry to hear that you're dealing with some health concerns at the moment. It'sunderstdnable that you're feeling anxious about the symptoms that you've been experiencing and the test results.

It's good to know that you have already been referred to the hospital for further investigations. It's often worth giving them a call and asking if they hold a cancellation list. If you're able to attend at short notice then sometimes this can help with finding an earlier appointment.

Try to remember that there could be a number of other reasons for your symptoms so think positively until you know otherwise. If you'd like to talk things through with one of our team of nurses I'm sure they would be happy to offer any advice, information, and support that they can. They're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

I hope that you have some news soon.

    Best wishes,
