Returning Large Ovarian Cysts

Hi all,

Last year i found out I had a 20cm ovarian cyst which was subsequently removed, and I was advised it was highly unlikely I would ever get another similar due to only now having one ovary. A year on, a new 7cm ovarian cyst has been found on my remaining ovary and I'm feeling quite disheartened about it due to the potential affect this may have on my fertility if it doesn't go away by my next scan. Has anyone else experienced this and have any advice?

Thanks

  • Hello Funrunner

I'm sorry to hear that you're worried about the most recently diagnosed ovarian cyst and what this may mean for you in the future.

It's often difficult for people when they don't have a firm diagnosis about things and for you, the potential need to have this cyst removed has a wider impact on your health and future.

Hopefully, someone who has been through a similar situation will see your post and reply to share their experiences with you.

I do hope that the team is able to give you some reassurance at your next scan.

    Best wishes,

  • My daughter had a large size of a grapefruit cyst removed from her overy when she was pregnant, they waited until she was 14 weeks before operating. The pregnancy was at risk but the overy was still intact after the operation. Baby was born at 32 weeks tiny but o.k.
l hope your able to have the cyst removed and keep the overy.
    best wishes

  • I had a 18cm one out in 2020 , 4 months later it come back and was found at 9cm 18 months later it grew to 25cm and caused me a whole lpad problems , wish the drs acted sooner and took me serious , because I lost my ovary in end, however in between both these cysts I conceived my daughter (v quickly too) and I carried her no problem despite having a 9cm cyst in me at same time. And I delivered her vaginally no issues x
