Mole Excision

Hello, just curious I went to see the GP who took some photos of my mole and received a phone call due to suspicion of melanoma and was referred under the 2WW.

I got seen too a week after that appointment and the dermatologist said she finds it concerning and wants it removed however didn't remove my mole straight away, I have to wait for another appointment which could be up to 4 weeks to have this removed? If this normal if it was found concering?

My mole is flat and smooth, however has drastically got bigger and went very dark with irregular shaping.

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat, CBW1221.

I'm sorry to hear you found a mole that needs further investigation but I'm glad that you're already being seen by your doctors.

I can imagine the waiting time between appointments is stressing you but try to keep in mind that you've done everything you could so far.

That being said, if you feel like asking some questions to our team of nurses prior to your next appointment, they'd be happy to chat with you Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m on this freephone 0808 800 4040.

Once you know more, please come back to give us an update.

    All the best,

  • Hello, have you any idea what homogenous network means?

  • Hi there,

As Renata suggested, it would be best to either discuss this with your doctor/specialist, or otherwise you could give our nurses a call on the above number to talk things through. Unfortunately we are unable to provide medical advice.

    All the best,
