Reasons why a surgeon would call before biopsy appointment

Hi there,

My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer 9 years ago and went through surgery, chemo and radiotherapy and has been cancer free since 2014. Recently, she went to the hospital for her breast screening after she detected a lump and pain in her right armpit.

They did a mammogram and biopsy and she was due for an in person appointment to discuss results in 2 days time. However, she recieved a voicemail from a surgeon asking her to call them back when she could. What could this mean? I'm very worried about why they would call when her appointment is only a day and half away?

Has this happened to someone else?
