Large Lump in Left Side of Neck

Hi, I'm 18 with a long history with anxiety. Over the past few weeks, what I assumed to be my lymph node in the left side of my neck has swollen to the size of a few centimetres and is quite hard to touch. I have an appointment on Tuesday to have it looked at, however my anxiety is acting up and I am having multiple panic attacks a day. I can't shake the idea that it's lymphoma and nothing I do can soothe the stress or take my mind off it. I don't have other symptoms like the fatigue or night sweats, however I think the lump might slowly be getting bigger and it isn't squishy or moveable like a lymph node should be. I can't find lumps anywhere else on my body but I also don't have any signs of infection (I may have had a tonsil stone when I first noticed the lump, but I'm not 100% sure that was even a tonsil stone as it disappeared very quickly). Does anyone have any reassuring words or similar experiences they can share?

  • Hi moss

There are many harmless reasons why there are lumps and bumps and its good to get checked with GP and wishing you best for Tuesday.
One bit of gentle advice I would give you is to stay off Google as there is so much mis information out there and so easy to diagnose something from any symtoms.
Your young age is a big factor and makes less likely anything to worry about but we are not medically trained on here so your doing right thing by checking in with GP.
I notice you mentioned history of anxiety and this will obviously be adding to.

Sending you my best wishes and Tues only a few days away to see what GP says and hopefully able to re assure.

Let me know how you get on with your appointment and if I can do anything else to help

    kind regards
