2ww and going out of my mind

I went to the doctor's last Wednesday.

I stupidly didn't know that discharge coming out of your nipple wasn't normal (not something I'd really ask someone) so a friend told me to go to the doctors.

Anyway the doctor examined me and said she was going to do a urgent referral to the breast clinic as she could feel a small lump in my breast.

So a week down the line I haven't heard anything. I did call the 2ww people on Monday and they said I'll get a phone call in the next couple of days.

I'm going out of my mind and I just want to know when I'm being seen.

What can I expect etc, I'm 35 but my mum had breast cancer when she was in her 40's and then later passed away.

  • Hello Worriedmum1987 and welcome to the Cancer Chat forum.

Waiting for appointments and results can be very challenging but I hope it helps to know that many of our members have been in this situation too so you are not alone and hopefully you will receive some support and advice from them soon.

In the meantime, I hope this information I've found on what to expect at a breast clinic appointment will help you feel more prepared for what's to come.

If you have any questions about any of this or would just like to talk things through with someone then do give our cancer nurses a call on 0808 800 4040. Their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they'll do all they can to help and put your mind at ease.

    All the best,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
