Worried & unsure, bowel issues

Hello, I am a 42yr old female, I have had bowel issues for some time now but these last 4 weeks I have had discomfort in my tummy, best way I can describe it is prickling pinchy type pains in the lower part of my abdomen. I am having to rush to the toilet about 5 times a day and this is worse after eating and drinking some drinks like tea & coffee, I have a lot of gurgling sounds throughout the day and also wind. On the toilet I have different experiences, mainly I pass a water consistency movement that is always pink-red in color (blood) which often comes out with more gas, this can be large amounts of liquid but sometimes less, It can also be hard to pass the gas on occasions. Other times I can get a huge amount of diarrhea with blood mixed on it and mixed in with it and on other times I get mucus and a whiter looking mucus, sometimes fleshy looking bits too, sorry for the yucky description but I have no one to talk to about this apart from my husband and I feel rushed by the GP and feel I have no time to talk to her about the details. I am tired beyond belief, I can sleep all night, wake up then sleep again, this last week I have lost over half a stone in weight but this could be down to the fact I am nervous to eat very much because it starts the toilet issues off. I am having blood tests done, tests on my poo, and the FIT test but I do feel worried because of the amount of blood I am seeing every time I use the loo. I am scared because I have 4 children, 2 of which have special needs and the future is very worrying right now.

  • Welcome to the forum Sboo although I'm very sorry for all the stress and worry this situation is causing.

I know this must be scary but please do try and eat and drink more when you can, even if it's just little and often throughout the day, as you need to keep your energy up. If you're not doing so already, maybe you could keep a food and drink diary so you can try avoiding the items you think may be setting you off?

Hopefully some of our members who have been in a similar situation will offer their thoughts and advice to you soon but in the meantime, I just wanted you to know we're thinking of you and will have our fingers crossed your test results show you're not contending with anything sinister.

    Kind regards,
