Cervical changes

Hello,

I have recently had a baby last year, and I have always had clear smear tests however I was referred for suspected cervical cancer following some abnormal bleeding and suspicious looking cervix.

Today I had a colposcopy, initially the area that was originally pointed out as suspicious wasn't found to be suspicious but once some solution was used there were indications of minor cell changes so biopsies were taken.

I just wondered if this means I have the HPV virus and I wondered if anyone else was going through this/ been through anything like this. I'm a bit a scared and upset not sure what to do.

thanks :)

  • Hello Em and welcome to the forum.

I noticed you have a question about your colposcopy that the Cancer Chat community can't really answer so I just wanted to stop by and give you our cancer nurses telephone number. They are very knowledgeable and experienced in this field so if you'd like to get their help and thoughts on this, you can contact them on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

Hopefully some of our members will offer their support and advice to you soon but in the meantime I hope this colposcopy results page I've found on Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust will make things a little less scary and easier to understand.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
