Small moveable lump above right collarbone

I'm 23 and pregnant, I've had a constant runny & blocked nose since just before finding out it's only been when I would wake up in the morning. I recently discovered a small moveable kind of hard lump just above my right collarbone but when I move it sort of moves on it and around it. I'm waiting for doctors to open as it's been the weekend but anyone else experienced this ?

  • Welcome to the forum Mavissorta and a massive congratulations on your pregnancy! I hope it's going well although I'm sorry about the lump you've found recently and for the worry this is causing.

It's always a bit scary coming across any unusual or unexplained lumps but I'm glad you're seeking medical advice and I hope you've managed to make an appointment with your GP since making this post.

Many of our members have contended with lumps in this area so you are not alone and hopefully you will get to hear about their experiences and receive some advice from them soon.

In the meantime, we'll have our fingers crossed this won't be any cause for concern.

    All the best,

  • Hello Mavissorta,

Thanks for your post. First of all, congratulations on the pregnancy, but I imagine this is extremely stressful for you. It's great that you're getting checked by a doctor - hopefully you're not waiting too long?

In the way of reassurance; it sounds like you've had a runny nose before discovering the lump. What you've discovered could be an enlarged lymph node. It's not uncomon for them to swell after periods of infection and they typically resolve on their own within a period of 2 weeks. I noticed you said it moves; does it move when you press it? if so, that can be reassuring, since lymph nodes that are soft and move around are often in response to an infection and nothing more, and will typically go away on their own. Lumps that are firm and do not move are more worriesome.

Ultimately, the doctor will be able to tell you for certain, but I do hope this has given you some semblance of reasurance while you wait for that appointment in the meantime. My friend had a similar issue with enlarged lymph nodes post-COVID, and they stayed for about 3 weeks before eventually going away.

Good job for getting it checked and hopefully you have some reassuring news incoming so you're able to focus on your pregnancy.
