Was this normal during the colposcopy?

Hi everyone, I had my first colposcopy yesterday. I went in on the first day of my period (I was encouraged to as they still wanted to look). It was a very light day but they seemed confused at what they were looking at. They brought someone else in and kept saying to eachother 'I dont know what we are looking at' and something about a spot. They spoke in a lot of medical jargon and then told me they would be taking a chlamydia and gonorrhea test also, but assured me everything was fine it was just precautionary. I'm very confident I don't have chlamydia or gonorrhea. I was tested recently and have had no new partners since. Could anyone put my mind at ease? They said it would be a few weeks for the biopsy results and I'm very nervous.

  • Hello Sunny_Days and a big welcome to our forum,

It must have been a bit of a stressful experience for you to be hearing them speak in a lot of medical jargon during the colposcopy and to feel a little bit out of your depth. It's reassuring that they have said everything was fine and it was just precautionary so try not to worry too much or anticipate the worst.

It's normal to be nervous while waiting for biopsy results and this is something many members of our forum will be able to relate to. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious. Waiting weeks for results can indeed feel like a lifetime and there are helpful tips on this page to help you cope while waiting for important news.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,
