I had an ultrasound scan last month due to pelvic pain. It was ordered by GP and carried out by "Pysiological Measurements", which apparently does community ultrasounds for the NHS.

 

At the scan she said I have a cyst and the GP will get the full report. 

It took weeks to get a phone call appointment with GP who told me I have a cyst and 'the hospital' will arrange a follow up scan. The rest of the conversation I could not understand as she's very unclear on the phone. I didnt get a chance to ask any questions or talk about new symptoms I've been having. I have no information about size or type of cyst, only 'a cyst' and there is no hospital that will arrange an appointment as I've not had any contact with any hospital. I dont think Physiological Measurements arranges follow up appointments. 

Although the news seems good, I am totally lacking in confidence and feel like I have no idea what is going on. My pain is worse and I'm getting other symptoms with no chance to discuss them.

    Hi Applebee I am having a ultrasound scan tomorrow for my cyst on my left ovary which is 18mms there going to see if it has grown because I'm in so much pain I don't know what kind of cyst it is but I've had this pain for a while I hope you can get another doctor appointment as is seems that is w what you need to do it's not nice not knowing

    I was finally told 4 weeks ago after weeks of discomfort,pain trips to a&e that I have an ovarian cyst on my right ovary.

    My gp was also vague and didn't say what kind of cyst it was, just that I would need to wait another 6 weeks for a follow up ultrasound to see if it's changed and if they want to remove it. 

    I have another 2 week to wait then probably a further week before I get results. I am sick of the pelvic pain also affecting my lower back and hip as well as the worry if it could be cancerous. I even rang a private clinic to ask about removal but that was over £3,000 so too pricy for me.

    I hope you get some answers soon, I hate the waiting and wondering, feels like my life is in limbo and I feel too unwell to make plans right now.

    I'm feeling quite similar. And it's quite difficult to put out your mind when you can literally feel it. 

     

    I've had ovarian cysts before but they caused no pain at all and were picked up incidentally during pregnancy. One of them got to 12cm and I couldn't feel it, but then I've read about much Aller cysts causing pain so it seems.like there's not much reason to it. They drained the large cyst during a c section but a follow up scan 6 months later showed it had returned. It was eventually removed a year after my baby was born - so it took ages. But I had no pain or discomfort or any other symptoms so it was easy to put it out of my mind. 

     

    I feel like I should be relieved it's not looking like anything serious but I'm struggling to shift this feeling of doubt at the moment.
