Lump on back of throat, awaiting biopsy

Hello,

Just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience to me. I've had a red lump on the back of my throat for about 10 weeks. I was referred to MaxFax on 2ww pathway. I had a camera up my nose and down my throat by the Registrar. Then saw a Consultant on Monday for a second opinion. He wasn't sure what it was and I'm now having a biopsy next week under GA.

I'm 37, don't drink or smoke.
I would really appreciate any reply to hear someone else has had a similar experience and know what to expect from the biopsy and recovery.

Thank you,

Eileen

  • Hello Eileen85

I'm sorry to hear that you're currently having some investigations of a lump on the back of your throat. It's understandable that you may be feeling anxious about your upcoming procedure.

I think that many of our members here will agree that this period of waiting for tests and results can be difficult. It's natural to have concerns and feel anxious about what may happen. Sometimes it can help to talk with someone about how you are feeling and any questions you may have. If you think that it may be helpful to chat with one of our team of nurses then please do give them a call. I'm sure they will be happy to offer any advice and support that they can ahead of your appointment next week. They're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

In the meantime hopefully, some of our community members who have had throat biopsies will post to share their experiences and advice with you.

Do keep in touch Eileen85 and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
