10 weeks and still waiting for biopsy results

Hey guys I'm wondering if this is a normal waiting time due to covid backlogs


I had a skin biopsy taken for something I suspect is squamous cell carcinoma ( by going off pictures online )

it will be 10 weeks tomorrow and I'm so fed up of waiting, the dermatology department don't seem bothered when I chase it up. It took a year and a half before I even had the appointment for the biopsy to be taken.

I know everything's taking longer due to the backlog from the pandemic but surely this isn't right? A year an a half and still waiting for something that could be skin cancer? 

is there anyone else that's been waiting this long?

    Hi, few options (1) call your GP and ask them to chase it, (2) Give the hospital a call and ask to speak to PALS (patient adviice & liaison service) - express your concerns and the delay the shold be able to help. If you google the hosopital name and type PALS the number should also come up on the search as a direct number to call

    Hello there, sorry to hear you're waiting for such a long time. 10 weeks is very long, so I would definitely chase it up if you can. Is this within the window they gave you for how long the results might take? If not - Do you have a number for department that took the biopsy? You should be able to chase, especially if the waiting window they gave you is now up.

    Squamous cell from what I understand is quite a low risk lesion, but i completely understand that it's probably leaving a shadow over your life that you can't move on from until you get the results. If you're like me, it probably feels like everything is on hold until you get them.

    im currently on week 1 of a possible 8 week wait for potential melanoma... I'm feeling pretty rotten about the whole thing.

    but yes, definitely try calling the department, hospital, and your GP. I really hope you hear something soon and it's good news!

    Hi, I got your same problem.. I did the colonscopy on July for sospect bowel cancer after the result positive from fit test plus my sintoms. I have called them 5weeks ago and they told me to wait more 5 weeks and just wait from  post and stop because they will contact me like this way.. Honestly I understand how you can feel.. I hope we will go true about our situations.. They said something and they keep after months with worry and tensions without 1answer about it leave when you call them.
