High tumour markers

I had a call from the doctor to say that in my recent blood tests my tumour markers were raised.

I was sent for an urgent ultrasound and nothing showed up. Will they have to keep doing tests until they find out the cause or will that be it?

I've had about 4 ultrasounds in the past few years and many blood tests. They usually show nothing of concern and I just have to carry on dealing with whatever has been causing me issues.

This is the first time that I've been told tumour markers are raised though and the doctor seemed more concerned and seemed to be making links between the different issues I've visited the GP for.

  • Hello SuperMum222

I'm sorry to hear that you've had some ongoing health concerns and that your recent blood tests resulted in you needing further investigations. It's good to know that the ultrasound didn't give any immediate cause for concern but obviously, this doesn't solve your issues.

Have you spoken with your GP/Dr since the ultrasound? If not then do get in touch with them and ask what next steps they're proposing regarding your symptoms and the blood test result that concerned them.

If you'd like to speak with our team of nurses for some advice and support you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

I do hope that you have some answers and that things improve for you soon.

    Best wishes,
