Advice about Ca-125/Cea/Hcg levels in possible gynae cancer

Had bloods done yesterday and nervous for the results, am 34 have almost all the symptoms for ovarian cancer/uterine cancer and scaring myself silly!!

Those who have/had it, how high were your tumor markers, so far all I know is that that I have a *category 2 solid complex cyst* it will be removed but they are awaiting the above bloods before deciding whether they do a ct/mri prior to surgery.

Looking for someone who is in or has been in a similar situation? At the moment they cannot tell me whether likely malignant/benign as they simply don't know as per the iota rules they use it fits both boxes a d had been classes as an indeterminate mass

Please anyone had the same been OK?

  • Hello KateT2020

I'm sorry to hear that you've been dealing with some ongoing health problems and that you're now waiting on further test results. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious about things.

Whilst a raised CA125 result can indicate ovarian cancer it's important to keep in mind that there are a number of other causes for a raised result including endometriosis and benign ovarian cysts. There's some information about CA125 on the Target Ovarian Cancer website that may be of interest to you.

We know that for many people this period of uncertainty can be very difficult. The unknown can be a scary prospect to face and it's natural to feel anxious about things. Sometimes it can help to talk things through and I wonder if you might find it beneficial to chat with our team of nurses? I'm sure they will be happy to offer any advice, information, and support that they can. If you'd like to chat with them they're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

I hope that you don't have to wait too long for some news Kate. Do keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
