Fearing the worst

My dad means the world to me. He's 73 and had a colonoscopy just over two weeks ago due to occult blood found in a sample. He had constipation for a couple of months but has had cronic diarrhoea for the past four days which, following a low fibre diet, has slowed in urgency but not consistancy. He's been diagnosd with anemia and put on 5mg of folic acid per day. He's lost over a stone in weight in a month or so. On top of that, he's had bouts of vertigo and vomiting which have lasted several hours. I think I pretty much know what's what's coming with regards to the results...

My questions are:

Why (might we) have not heard back about the results yet?

Is it normal for constipation and diarrhoea to alternate?

How is folate deficiency different to iron defficiency and is it implicated in colon cancer?

Is vertigo a symptom of colon cancer or is it indicative of a metastasis?

I guess I'm clutching at straws, but my world's about to end...
