Lung C and persistent cough?

I had a persisent cough for 5/6 weeks, went to see the doctor and she gave me a steriod nasal spray and the coughing went away after about 10 days. As part of this I was diagnosed with lung cancer (well, biopsy next week to confirm).

I'm not sure if the cough was just a minor infection that in the end just highlighted a much bigger issue or was it related to it? As I said, the cough went away and I am fine (for) now.

  • Persistent cough can be lot of things aside from cancer – always needs checking out, not always cancer!

Common (non-infection) causes are smoking, post-nasal drip, as well as underlying health conditions such as asthma and GERD.

I've no idea what cause of cough was in your case, but very lucky you went and got your cough checked out!

You touched a bit of a nerve as I'm someone who has conditions that cause cough ... only last week I was thinking, what if I had a cancer and they missed it as easy to dismiss cough. Maybe I should ask for a chest x-ray sometime!

Wishing you well for your biopsy btw. Hope you get best possible outcome.
