Referral to breast cancer clinic

Hello,

I am 27 and I am waiting to attend my appointment at the breast clinic... I had an itchy rash between/underneath my breasts for about a month, I mostly tried to ignore it, however I  noticed that there was a slightly tender area, upon having a feel I found a small lump.

I decided to visit my GP, who reassured me that the rash is likely either thrush or just dry skin and the lump is likely a fibroadenoma due to my age and the fact that the lump is moveable..

Initially I felt reassured, however after doing far too much googling (oops!) I'm wondering if the lump really will be benign.

I'm just wondering if anyone can tell me about their experience at the appointment, do you usually find out on the day what the lump is? Did you take anyone to your appointment with you?

I don't even know if I would be able to have someone come with me due to covid etc, and I think I have decided to go on my own anyway.. however I am curious to know what other people chose to do.

Thank you if you have read this far and for any responses! X

  • Hello

im 27 also but I'm breastfeeding my 6 month old baby and have a pea like lump in my breast what's abit tender doesn't move but then I have 2 near it what do move about doctor I seen said could be enlarged milk ducts but referred me to breast clinic but as non urgent! So guessing I'll have to stress for ages waiting for an appointment but I went last year for a lump in my other breast and i had a ultrasound and they told me there and then that there was nothing sinister there just lumpy Breast tissue I went on my own because of covid xx

  • Aw, congratulations on your baba. I have a 2 year old

It's good to know that they suspect it might be enlarged milk ducts but I know exactly what you mean, the wait for the confirmation isn't nice. I hope you don't have to wait too long for your appointment. My referral has been put through as urgent but it also states "cancer not suspected".

Okay so I potentially might find out on the day too following my ultrasound, I hope! I'm glad to hear that your appointment last year went well xx

  • Thank you It's all the more worrying when your a mum isn't it I also have a 2 year old aswell have you been put on a 2 week wait? That's what I had last year I wish they did that this time I just wanna know! I'm terrible for googling and then terrifying myself & yeah I'd say you'll find out on the day if there not 100% sure through a ultrasound they'll do a biopsy on the lump but I'm not sure how long it takes to get the results for that! Good luck with your appointment you should get a date soon xx
