15mm endometrial lining

Hi I've googled because I have a 15mm endometrial lining found on a ultrasound . I had the scan do too prelonged periods . I'm 42 . After looking at google it's now worried me . I stumbled across this forum due to many people in a similar situation, I've got to have another ultrasound scan done soon to recheck measurements. Anyone had similar with any advice . Many thanks

  • Hi Karentia,

If it helps I'm in a very similar situation. My last measurement was about 27.5mm (my lining was normal in December) and I recently went in for a hysterscopy (sorry for spelling I'm on my phone) as they wanted to see what was happening.

The important thing to remember is that, at your age, it's highly unlikely to be endometrial cancer. There are a myriad of conditions that can cause the lining to thicken, such as endometrial hyperplasia, polyps and fibroids. Hormone imbalances can effect lining and the point in your menstral cycle also has a massive effect.

I imagine they are just keeping an eye on your uterus out of an abundance of caution. The great thing about the uterus is that it can be very easily removed and not significantly impact our daily lives, so if they find something they don't like they can act before it becomes an issue.

Let me know how you get on at your next scan, but from everything you've said I doubt there will be any significant problems.

    Best of luck,

    LF

  • Thank you for replying I really appreciate it ,doctor google is not my friend ‍♀️ I've read about some of the conditions you have listed and I can relate to the hyperplasia one with different symptoms. I will let you know the outcome , probably have a scan in the next month

  • Hi

Sorry to jump in on your chat, but I was wondering how you got on with your results. I'm 40 and have 17mm thickening of the womb lining. I've had a biopsy and waiting for the results, I too was told 4~6wks,which is hard work keeping positive -  I'm having calm days and days where its consuming my thoughts.

I hope you had a positive outcome.

    Best wishes Anna x ️
