HPV, abnormal cells and bleeding

Hi,

I have been bleeding (vaginally) for 4 weeks now, i am on the pill which I don't have a period so it's usual for me to bleed. 2 weeks into it I have received my smear test results which have come back (HPV, abnormal cells which are low grade dyskaryosis). I now have to go for colposcopy on the 16th June.  I'm so worried as I'm bleeding and it hasn't stopped. I went to see my doctors and she checked me and said there's no obvious signs as to why it's happening. Basically said she doesn't know and it could be my body having a blip, my pill or from these cells. I left feeling none the wiser and still worried, she said she would refer me for an ultrasound but still no letter over a week later.  I'm getting a lot of pain round my pelvis and lower back and if I've been moving a lot or go to the toilet fresh blood and clots come out. I'm so worried and feel like I'm just being left till this appointment on the16th. Just wondering if anyone has experienced anything like this?

thanks in advance

  • Hi LiLAsh,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to hear of the difficulties you're experiencing. It's good to hear you have an appointment coming up but equally I appreciate it is tough to wait that time with these symptoms.

If things are debilitating then give your doctor another call to see what can be done ahead of the appointment.

Hopefully things will settle a little for you soon.

If you feel you'd like to talk things through with one of our nurses, you are welcome to give them a call on 0808 800 4040 (Monday-Friday, 9-5).

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
