Tumour found on bladder.

Yesterday I had two procedures to try and identify why I have blood in my urine, the first procedure was a flexible cystocope and during this they found a tumour on my bladder which they said will need operating on to remove it and send it off and the results take two weeks. The second procedure was a CT scan with contrast, this was carried out and I should receive the results in two possibly three weeks.. I have looked into various medical journal websites to try and get an understanding of what the tumour means and what does it represent cancer wise, and from what I have found it would seem that the chances of it being malignant are quite high with only less and 1% turning out as benign.. I'm trying to remain calm until I get the results back after the removal of the tumour but it all seems quite overwhelming..

  • Hello PeterG

I'm sorry to hear that you're waiting on some results at the moment following your recent investigations. It's understandably a worrying time right now and natural to feel overwhelmed by all the possibilities and information coming your way.

It's good to hear that the hospital has given you a time frame in which you should hear some news and hopefully there won't be any delays on these appointments. We know that waiting can be a difficult time for many people. Dealing with uncertainty can be hard and often people turn to the internet for information. Unfortunately what most often happens is that people are left feeling more anxious and uncertain than before. I wonder if you might find it helpful to chat things through with one of our team of nurses? I'm sure that they will be happy to try and answer any questions you have and offer some advice, information, and support ahead of your results. If you'd like to talk with them they're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

Keep in touch Peter and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
