Looking for Answers

Hi All,

Bit of a long post, but wanting to see I anybody can offer me any advice or answers.

I have been having trouble with breathing and coughing blood over the last 3 months and have been seeing a great throatic consulant who has really been digging for me. Chest Xray Clear, CT Scan Clear (Chest), Nuclear Science test should reduced oxygen at the bottom of the Lungs. After all these tests I had a sigh of relief and though it must be down to my weight and unhealthy life choices.

Out of the blue, I get a phone call from the ENT department responding to a 6 month old refferal about a ear infection. Asking me to come in next day at 8.30pm which I found strange.

Attended the appointment, and she looked in my ear and then asked to look with a endoscope up my nose and throat. After a quick examination she stated I have a very large tumor growth After this my mind sort of blurred. She said I will get a mri scan urgently on my face and my neck and a biopsy as soon as possible.

She didn't say it was cancer however the way she was speaking implied the worst. I have so many questions now but didn't at the time.

What cancer could it be, why the neck scan? I'm so confused.

  • Hello Macauley

I'm sorry to hear that you've been dealing with some ongoing health problems and that following your most recent appointment you now need some further investigations. It's totally understandable that you're feeling confused and anxious about what this lump may be and if it's responsible for the symptoms you've been experiencing.

We know that waiting for tests and results can be a difficult time for many people and it's natural to want answers as soon as you can. Hopefully, you won't have to wait too long for the MRI scan requested by the ENT consultant. In the meantime, I wonder if you might find it helpful to chat things through with one of our team of nurses? I'm sure they will be happy to offer any advice and support that they can ahead of your next appointment. If you'd like to speak with them they're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

Keep in touch Macauley and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
