Suspected ovarian cancer, always cancer?

I know this is a bit of an unanswerable question, but has anyone been told they think it is cancer and it isn't?

A blood test following some bloating and loose stools showed a CA125 of 420. Ultrasound found 2 "highly suspicious" masses, CT confirmed one on each ovary of 7cm and 9cm. Doctors have said they think they look malignant. I am petrified.

I have had an ascites drain which has been sent for biopsy but no results yet. I have also been booked in for primary debulking next month which I don't think they'd do if they were not sure, but I'm clinging on to hope.

I've had a lot of tenderness and discomfort since my drain which is just serving to make me paranoid that they're both growing and spreading and honestly I'm on the verge of a breakdown with stress right now!

  • I'm so sorry for the stress and worry this is causing Kay.

Being in this period of limbo can be very challenging but you are not alone as many of our members have been in this position so will know how you're feeling at the moment and hopefully some of them will be along soon to offer you their support and advice.

I really hope it won't be long until the biopsy results come back, but whilst you wait I hope the tips and advice given in this article will help.

You're also welcome to talk things through with one of our nurses on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

Fingers crossed everything turns out o.k Kay.
