Swollen lymph nodes and weight loss

Hi,

About 12 weeks ago I noticed swollen lymph nodes in my neck (both sides) so I went to my GP who checked my armpit and groin and noticed a tiny one in my armpit and 2 small ones in my groin, I've also lost around 2 stone in 8 months and feel exhausted daily.

My GP did blood tests which came back normal so told me to give it 6 weeks to see if they go. After 6 weeks they were still there and I was stil losing weight so I went back and was referred to the hospital.

I had more blood tests done at the hospital and a chest x-ray that all came back fine so now I've been referred for a CT scan.

I'm so scared I've got cancer as I'm a single mum to 4  but I keep trying to reassure myself that if it was cancer it would've shown in my blood work. Also, the consultant at the hospital said it's unlikely to be cancer as they'd expect the lymph nodes to be bigger if it was.

Has anyone else had similar symptoms and tests that all came back fine but then was diagnosed through a CT scan?

Or has anyone had similar symptoms that turned out to be something different?

The process is so slow with constantly waiting for appointments to come through and the not knowing is driving me crazy.

  • Hello Kimmy1234

I'm sorry to hear that you've been dealing with some ongoing health problems. It's understandable that you're feeling concerned.

I'm glad to hear that you've already had some investigations and whilst it's frustrating that no answers have shown as yet, it is positive to hear that nothing of immediate concern has been picked up. Hopefully, the planned CT scan will give the Consultant some insight into what's causing your symptoms.

If you'd like to chat through your concerns with one of our team of nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm. I'm sure they will be happy to offer any advice and support that they can.

I hope that you don't have to wait too long for the scan and that you have some news soon.

    Best wishes,
    Jenn
