Ultrasound scan on neck results

Hi there

I had an ultrasound this morning on my neck as have had 3 lumps for nearly 2 years but have been fobbed off.

There are actually a lot more of concern apparently.

Radiologist report stated 'there are multiple enlarged abnormal lymph nodes in neck... Features are suggestive of lymphoma'.  Also 'benign nodules in thyroid'.

I'm booked in for a biopsy on Monday - my question is, would the radiologist be pretty certain in the difference between the two?

And has anyone been through similar?

Thank you x

  • Hello Welshbek

I'm sorry to hear that you have some lumps which now need a biopsy. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious ahead of your appointment on Monday.

I'm a little uncertain about your question about the radiologist being "pretty certain in the difference between the two". They will have made their report based on their training and expertise and will be able to recognise certain clinical features in the lumps that you've had scanned. But the important thing is that you already have your biopsy appointment arranged. Hopefully you won't have to wait too long for the results and there will be some positive news to accompany those.

If you'd like to talk things through with one of our nurses at any point you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

Do keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
