Is it normal to wait 8 to 12 weeks for a ct scan after 2 masses on lung found one of which is 4cm?
Husband has been coughing for months and feels like phelm is stuck in throat. (White phelm) he went through a few weeks of feeling no energy and sucking menthol sweets.
He had chest xray and bloods. Nothing found. Told Dr he still doesn't feel right, so Dr referred him to a respiration clinic at hospital under urgent note.
He only has milder symptoms at moment and told consultant this .Still has to keep clearing phlem and sucks probably 10 menthol cough sweets aday.
Off he went after ct scan expecting to do the breathing tests but consultant said you have to masses on lung one which is 4cm and because he isn't feeling so breathless ,to have a ct scan in 8 to 12 weeks!
Is this normal? Obviously he was rather shocked and didn't ask questions, as thought he was there for a lung tests.
Is this normal to wait that long? Can't get GP appointment for 3 more weeks .
Are they waiting to see if it gets bigger, or is it because of back log from covid or is it because he isn't so ill at mo that the consultant is not worried.
He is a smoker and dealt with asbestos in the past.
Thankyou for any insight.
