Concerned and worried....

Hi guys,

Hope you are all well. I would really like your comments or thoughts towards my situation. It has been 8 weeks since a Mole in my inner thigh has been removed, my experience with the department of Dermatology has been very weird, as they have been moving my appointment for results from the 4th week after removal until next week and then another week, they were calling me and telling me that no results from biopsy yet and so on and so on. Then in the eighth week finally they required me for an appointment face to face. It was quite an experience as the nurse and doctor don't know exactly what my mole is, they say they are still testing and from 5 tests, 4 has come negative but still waiting for the last, on top of that they say they will refer me to skin cancer department in order for them explore even further if it turns to be a melanoma, suggesting that a lymph node biopsy could be offered in order to check the cells and if it has spread. In the end they tell me to not think negative as there is not any full diagnostic and that 70% is negative so far, but still a 30% not confirmed which they are treating as a worst case scenario to find if there is really a problem. Now they called me to put the appointment for skin cancer department in 2 weeks time. Has anyone has any similar case to mine? isn't weird that if its that serious why they put the next appointments so far? if there is still of 30% test not confirmed why they are already suggesting such an invasive surgery? Any thoughts or someone would help...

I feel so sad as I have to travel in one month time moving to another country, and don't have any place to stay... Roxy

  • Hi Roxy1982,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to hear you've been waiting a long time to find out all your results.

It sounds like they are being very thorough, which is good. It also sounds like they are perhaps trying to keep you in the loop with what's going on - the results so far, and any potential next steps. I can understand this may also be causing some worry and uncertainty.

Hopefully it won't be long to wait until you get all the results you need. Keep discussing any concerns or questions you have at your appointments. And if you are concerned due to moving away, do also make sure the doctor / medical team are aware of this, if you haven't already.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
