Is puckered breast always cancer?

Looking for some hope.

Can a "puckered" breast dimple ever be benign?

My dimple is at the 5 o clock position on my left breast, it's quite big (about 3cm diameter) takes a 1cm deep chunk out of the contour, and has two creases inside of it that form a large 'Y' shape. (I'm calling this y shape puckering, please correct me if I'm wrong)

I can only see it with arm pushed into my breast or when flexing. I can't feel a lump, and I had a clear Mammo and USS 5 weeks ago (I hadn't noticed the dimple then) Despite all this, the shocking appearance of this dimple has me terrified and I haven't been able to think about anything else for the whole week since I found it!

Im gonna get it checked out, but I'd love to know if there is any hope despite puckering?

  • Hello _driftwoodhearts_,

I hope that you will hear from other members of the forum who have had this type of breast puckering and that they will be along shortly to share their experience with you. You are doing the right thing in having it checked out as it will be the only way to know whether it needs further investigation and it's the only path to getting a definite diagnosis. So do give your doctor's surgery a call and hopefully you can get it looked at very soon.

Keeping everything crossed for you that it turns out to be nothing of concern.

    Best wishes,

  •   going through this right now, what ever happened? Would be go grateful for a response :(

  • Hi, I’m sorry you are going through this, it really is awful.
I had mine monitored for a year by the hospital and it didn’t change. It’s now been 17 months and still looks exactly the same.
The breast consultant believes I have a ligament attaching the bottom of my breast to the chest wall, so each time I move my chest muscle, the skin gets pulled in creating the dimple.
Best get yourself checked for peace of mind, but most likely it’s something totally benign!
